Cybersecurity (BS) & German (BA) with Russian minor, April 2027
My name is Sasha Flanagan and most of my time is spent between BYU's cybersecurity, German, and Russian programs. While most of my free time centers around my favorite hobby of studying Russian, I also love travelling, my cat, baking, ice skating, and I absolutely love bugs. Naturally, foreign language study has played an important part in my life, so in my future I hope to grow my Russian and develop skills in other languages critical to US interests.
While I am originally from North Carolina, I grew up in the foreign service, so I grew up entirely abroad. Living in Central Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and East Asia has provided me firsthand insights into the challenges that our country faces specifically within the sphere of cyber threats posed by nation-state actors. I aspire to utilize the expertise gained from my cybersecurity program and my upbringing as well as foreign language to aid in securing critical US networks and national security information against attacks and the actions of our most dangerous adversaries.
